SENATE LAUDS BINI FOR HISTORIC COACHELLA DEBUT

The Senate unanimously passed a resolution introduced by Senator Bam Aquino to honor the P-pop girl group BINI for their historic performance at last month’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

The eight-member ensemble attended the Senate plenary session on Wednesday, May 4, where Aquino commended the group’s milestone for showcasing Filipino musicality and creative talent on the international stage.

The chamber adopted Resolution 370, which formally recognizes BINI for outstandingly representing the Philippines and its culture.

Coachella is a premier annual music and arts event that gathers global music icons for live audiences and millions of viewers worldwide. This year’s high-profile lineup featured Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, and K-pop veterans BIGBANG, who celebrated their 20th anniversary at the festival.

BINI delivered full sets across both festival weekends on April 10 and 17 at Coachella’s Mojave stage, performing their hit tracks, including “Pantropiko,” “Cherry on Top,” “Karera,” and “Salamin, Salamin.”

Group members Jhoanna, Maloi, Colet, Mikha, Aiah, Sheena, Stacey, and Gwen attended the session alongside Star Magic head and ABS-CBN Head of TV Production Lauren Dyogi.

Several lawmakers co-authored the resolution and creatively integrated BINI’s song titles into their sponsoring speeches. Joining Aquino in sponsoring the measure were Senate Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros, Raffy Tulfo, Erwin Tulfo, Joel Villanueva, Jinggoy Estrada, and Loren Legarda.

The group also joined Senate leadership for an official photo opportunity, which included Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri, Senate Deputy Majority Leader JV Ejercito, Senate Deputy Minority Leader Rodante Marcoleta, Senator Bong Go, and Senator Robin Padilla.
