SINNER TO FACE ZVEREV IN WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev booked their places in the Wimbledon men’s singles final on Friday, ending the history-making bids of Novak Djokovic and local favorite Arthur Fery with authoritative victories.

Defending champion and world number one Sinner moved within a single win of retaining his grass-court crown by sweeping aside seven-time winner Novak Djokovic in a clinical 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 straight-sets performance. The loss shattered Djokovic’s hopes of claiming an unprecedented 25th Grand Slam singles title.

In Sunday’s showpiece, Sinner will clash with reigning French Open champion Alexander Zverev. The second-seeded German booked his ticket to the final with a dominant 7-6 (7/0), 6-2, 6-4 triumph over British wildcard Arthur Fery.

The Centre Court crowd had hoped to see the 39-year-old Djokovic break more records and Fery extend his fairytale run, but they were instead treated to an exhibition of ruthless power and accuracy from the tournament’s top two seeds.

Sinner, chasing his fifth career major, returns to the All England Club final for the second year in a row. Meanwhile, Zverev will be making his debut in a Wimbledon final as he hunts for his second Grand Slam trophy.

The blockbuster matchup pits two of the sport’s hottest players against each other: Sinner boasts a 13-match unbeaten run at SW19, while Zverev extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 13 matches.

Sinner will enter the contest as the odds-on favorite, having bested Zverev in their previous nine meetings—including the 2025 Australian Open final. However, the top seed remains locked in on the magnitude of the occasion.

After bouncing back strongly from a disappointing second-round departure at Roland Garros, Sinner shared his excitement about returning to the final.

“It means a lot to me to play one more final here. It’s the most special tournament we have,” said Sinner.
