TRUMP ANNOUNCES ISRAEL-LEBANON 10-DAY CEASEFIRE

U.S. President Donald Trump announced late Wednesday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire scheduled to begin Thursday at 5 p.m. EST, marking a significant diplomatic effort to temporarily halt escalating hostilities in the region.

The announcement was made through Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he said the truce followed “excellent” discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.

According to Trump, the talks came after a formal peace summit between the two sides held earlier in Washington.

“These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST,” Trump stated.

U.S. Diplomatic Coordination
Trump said his administration has mobilized senior officials to oversee the implementation of the truce.

He directed Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and General Dan Caine to coordinate with both governments in efforts to secure what he described as a pathway toward lasting peace.

Reflecting on the development, Trump framed the ceasefire as part of a broader diplomatic track record.

“It has been my Honor to solve 9 Wars across the World, and this will be my 10th, so let’s, GET IT DONE!” he said.

A Fragile and Uncertain Situation
The announcement comes amid continued violence in the region, following intensified clashes involving Israel, Lebanon, and Iran-linked groups. The conflict escalated after military operations earlier this year, triggering widespread displacement and significant casualties.

Despite the ceasefire declaration, key uncertainties remain. There has been no independent confirmation that all involved parties, including Hezbollah, will observe the temporary halt in fighting.

Additionally, questions remain over verification mechanisms, with no immediate confirmation that scheduled high-level coordination calls between leaders have taken place.

International Response and Outlook
As the 5 p.m. EST deadline approaches, global observers are closely watching whether the temporary ceasefire will hold and whether it could serve as a foundation for longer-term negotiations.

For now, the agreement remains contingent on compliance by all parties involved, with diplomatic efforts ongoing to stabilize the rapidly evolving situation.
