TRUMP CLAIMS ‘NO LIMITS’ TO EXECUTIVE POWER AMID BIPARTISAN BACKLASH OVER IRAN PEACE DEAL

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that his executive authority carries virtually no boundaries during a Thursday interview on “The Axios Show” on January 18, pointing to his handling of the recent conflict with Iran as his justification.

When questioned about the boundaries of presidential power following the conflict, Trump dismissed the idea of operational constraints.

”There are no limits,” Trump said. “I haven’t learned that lesson yet. I know there are, but you know there are no limits.”

The President’s remarks arrived at a politically volatile moment. As the specific terms of an interim peace agreement to halt the military conflict began circulating on Capitol Hill, Trump faced a wave of intense criticism from both sides of the aisle.

While Congressional Republicans have historically shielded the President, the severe economic damage caused by the war has triggered a rare fracture in party unity. This internal friction comes at a critical time for lawmakers, with the upcoming November midterm elections poised to decide which party controls Congress.

Democrats have also united in fierce opposition to the administration’s diplomatic strategy.

The mounting political backlash focuses primarily on the core terms of the newly negotiated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

According to reports, the administration intends to release frozen Iranian financial assets, lift major economic sanctions, and assist in creating a $300 billion private wealth fund specifically designed to drive new investment into Iran.
