XI JINPING AND KIM JONG UN REACH ‘IMPORTANT CONSENSUS’ TO BOOST TIES

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un achieved an “important consensus” during his recent state visit to Pyongyang, vowing to protect regional and global peace, according to North Korea’s state media, KCNA.

In a message of thanks published by KCNA, Xi emphasized that the two leaders held extensive discussions on shared interests to strengthen the bond between their nations.

“exchanged in-depth views on issues of common concern and reached a series of important joint consensus,” Xi said.

Xi expressed his commitment to working alongside Kim, focusing on “fundamental and long-term interests” to maintain and develop bilateral relations while fostering stability across the region and the world.

He declared the two-day trip a success, noting that diplomatic relations had reached “a new historical stage,” and voiced his desire to meet with Kim again in the future.

The visit, which took place from Monday to Tuesday, marked Xi’s first trip to North Korea in seven years. China’s state-run Xinhua news agency reported that the diplomatic mission successfully deepened mutual understanding and established a clearer roadmap for future cooperation.

Both nations agreed to expand joint efforts across political, economic, and cultural sectors, while pledging to maintain tighter strategic communication between their respective governments.

As part of the diplomatic itinerary, KCNA reported that Xi and Kim visited the Sino-Korean Friendship Tower to honor Chinese soldiers who fought in the Korean War, and toured a political training facility for party officials.
