Japanese pop culture giant animate is set to officially open its first flagship store in the Philippines on Friday, October 16, 2026. Located at Level 3 of One Ayala in Makati City, the launch marks a major milestone for local anime retail, bringing official Japanese merchandise, exclusive character goods, and direct franchise collaborations straight to Filipino fans.
Founded in 1983 with its iconic flagship store in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, animate is Japan’s largest official retailer specializing in anime, manga, video games, and character merchandise. Operating over 120 branches across Japan and expanding throughout Asia and select international hubs, the chain serves as an official hub for otaku culture, offering verified collectibles, original publications, and direct fan engagement events.
animate Manila will operate on Level 3 of One Ayala, Makati City, Metro Manila. Store hours are set for Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
The store features a dedicated SHONEN JUMP SHOP section, offering official goods, manga, and collectible figures from top global franchises including Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Demon Slayer. Additionally, the Manila opening hosts the Hatsune Miku: COLORFUL STAGE! 6th Anniversary Festival, bringing special event merchandise to local vocaloid collectors.
For its inaugural collaboration event, animate Manila is celebrating the Persona series 30th Anniversary. Shoppers will receive an exclusive bonus gift for every ₱500 spent on official Persona series merchandise during the event window.
Grand opening visitors can also look forward to several limited-time perks, starting with a limited-edition Identity V shopping bag provided to all customers on a one-per-transaction basis, available while supplies last.
