The spinoff anime film BanG Dream! Ave Mujica prima aurora officially premiered in Japanese cinemas on Friday, October 16, 2026. Following the theatrical debut, franchise owner Bushiroad released a brand-new trailer showcasing fresh animation footage and an extended preview of the insert song “A Song of Romance.”
Directed by Kohdai Kakimoto (BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!!) and animated by 3D CG studio Sanzigen under its NICHICALINE brand, prima aurora serves as a crucial narrative bridge linking the events of BanG Dream! It’s MyGO!!!!! and BanG Dream! Ave Mujica to the upcoming television sequel, Ave Mujica – The Die is Cast –, scheduled for broadcast in January 2027.
Set in the spring six months after their official re-debut the film’s story focuses on band leader Sakiko Togawa (voiced by Kanon Takao) as she organizes an exclusive “secret masquerade” live performance. The event ignites fresh interpersonal dynamics, emotional tensions, and hidden motives among the five masked members of Ave Mujica.
Alongside the theatrical rollout, the featured insert song “A Song of Romance” performed by Rico Sasaki, who voices Uika Misumi / Doloris has officially launched on global music streaming platforms.
While official regional licensing and Philippine release dates have yet to be formally confirmed, local anime enthusiasts can anticipate a theatrical run in the coming months. Based on historical regional distribution trends, Southeast Asian theatrical debuts for Bushiroad feature projects typically follow two to four months after Japanese premieres.
Regional anime distributor ODEX Philippines, which previously brought prior BanG Dream! theatrical projects to local chains including SM Cinema and Ayala Malls Cinemas, is expected to manage regional licensing rights. Filipino fans can reasonably project an exclusive screening window between late December 2026 and February 2027, perfectly positioned around the premiere of the upcoming television continuation.
