After more than five years off the air, the wait is finally over for fans of the Clover Kingdom. TV Tokyo and the official production committee have confirmed that the hit fantasy anime Black Clover will return for its highly anticipated second season in October 2026.
A New Directorial Vision for Season 2
The announcement comes with a major creative shift for the series. Ayataka Tanemura, who previously directed episodes 153–170 of the first season and the acclaimed 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, has been tapped as the main director for Season 2. Tanemura’s appointment promises a seamless artistic transition between the cinematic style of the recent Netflix film and the new television arc.
“I’ll be directing again! Asta and everyone are finally back after a long wait,” Tanemura shared in a statement to fans. “We’re pushing ourselves to the limit to show you an even more powerful version of them! Please support Asta and everyone in their new adventures!”
Returning Staff and Studio Pierrot’s Continued Involvement
Studio Pierrot will remain at the helm of animation production, ensuring the series’ trademark magical battles and dynamic visuals are preserved. Key production staff for the new season include:
- Series Composition: Keiichiro Ochi (The Quintessential Quintuplets)
- Character Design: Itsuko Takeda returns, joined by sub-character designer Kumiko Tokunaga
- Music Composition: Minako Seki reprises her role, promising the return of the sweeping orchestral soundtrack that has defined the series
World Premiere and Global Streaming
Fans will get an early look at Season 2 during an exclusive world premiere of the first episode at Anime Expo 2026 on July 4, with director Tanemura and voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara (Asta) confirmed to appear at the event.
The season will be simulcast globally on Crunchyroll as it airs on TV Tokyo, ensuring Filipino and international fans can follow the new adventures in real time. With Yuki Tabata’s original manga having concluded its 11-year run in May, Black Clover’s second season arrives at a pivotal moment to bring the epic final arcs of Asta and Yuno’s rivalry to the screen.
