Revealed during Batman Day celebrations through DC Japan and Bandai’s official channels, the partnership encompasses a brand-new original comic series alongside an extensive merchandise line.
The core of the project is an original standalone comic series starring Gotham’s Dark Knight and Aruto Hiden, the tech-savvy CEO who fights as Kamen Rider Zero-One. The story will explore shared thematic elements of cutting-edge technology, corporate power, and urban vigilante justice as the two iconic heroes join forces. While specific narrative plot points remain under wraps, the comic aims to deliver a seamless blend of Western superhero tradition and Japanese tokusatsu action.
In tandem with the publishing initiative, Bandai will produce a dedicated collection of toys, action figures, and high-tier collector items inspired by the crossover.
The partnership marks the first official crossover between DC Comics and Toei’s Kamen Rider franchise. The dream project traces its roots back three decades to a historic 1996 meeting between Batman co-creator Jerry Robinson and Kamen Rider creator Shotaro Ishinomori. Thirty years after that initial encounter, DC, Toei, and Bandai are officially bringing their shared vision to life.
