‘LUPIN III’ AND ‘DETECTIVE CONAN’ TEASE NEW CROSSOVER REUNION VIA CRYPTIC PROMOTIONAL VISUAL

Legendary Japanese pop-culture icons Lupin III and Detective Conan are teasing a long-awaited reunion following the official release of a cryptic promotional graphic across franchise channels. The visual showcases side-by-side chalkboard facial sketches of both world-renowned characters alongside copyright attributions to original creators Monkey Punch and Gosho Aoyama, sparking global anticipation for a new Lupin the 3rd vs. Detective Conan crossover film.

The newly unveiled chalkboard visual highlights Lupin’s signature wide grin juxtaposed with Conan Edogawa’s trademark glasses and bowtie, mirroring the iconic aesthetic used in past crossover campaigns.

Adding an interactive mystery element, encrypted Wingdings-style ciphers line the borders of the graphic, inviting fans to decipher the hidden message in a classic Detective Conan promotional style.

A new installment would mark the third major team-up between the two legendary franchises:

The crossover legacy began with the 2009 TV special Lupin III vs. Detective Conan, which brought the phantom thief and brilliant high school detective together on television screens for the first time.

This was followed by the 2013 theatrical release Lupin the 3rd vs. Detective Conan: The Movie, which became a major box office hit in Japan, grossing over ¥4.2 billion and detailing a high-stakes investigation centered around the “Cherry Sapphire.”

The timing of the new teaser coincides with major anniversary milestones for both properties, further strengthening speculation of a feature-length theatrical or special television event in active production.

Local anime enthusiasts and moviegoers in the Philippines have strong reason to expect a theatrical release following past distribution trends.

Recent franchise entries, including Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway (2026) and Detective Conan: Episode “ZERO” – The Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Case (2026), both enjoyed successful Philippine cinema runs distributed by ODEX Philippines across major local theater chains.

Should a new feature film be officially confirmed, local fans can reasonably expect a Philippine theatrical premiere within two to four months following its Japanese debut. Official details remain under wrap, with a full production announcement expected in the coming weeks.
