The Philippine Game Dev Expo (PGDX) has officially announced its highly anticipated 2026 Cosplay Competition, introducing a high-stakes format that combines online community voting with a massive live-stage showdown.
The project aims to celebrate local talent by bridging the digital and physical worlds. Rather than relying solely on a closed panel of judges, the competition is putting the spotlight directly on the community to determine who gets to compete on the big stage.
Empowering the Community with Guaranteed Cash Prizes
In a unique twist designed to empower the local cosplay community, PGDX is giving fans the power to choose their favorites. Through an upcoming online voting phase, gamers and pop culture enthusiasts across the country will vote to select the top ten finalists.
To honor the massive digital effort, preparation, and craftsmanship of these creators, every single cosplayer who lands in the top 10 is guaranteed a cash prize scaled according to their final online ranking.
A Star-Studded Grand Finale at SMX Manila
The excitement will reach its peak live at the SMX Convention Center Manila during PGDX 2026, which runs from July 24 to 26, 2026. The 10 selected finalists will take to the main stage to perform live in front of thousands of passionate gaming fans.
Their performances will be evaluated by a stellar panel of local and international pop culture icons, featuring prominent Filipina cosplayer, actress, and gaming host Myrtle Sarrosa, veteran local cosplayer Roxanne Kho who is celebrated for her highly detailed character portrayals, and popular regional cosplay sensation Loki Heart. Based on these live performances, the judges will crown the top three overall winners, who will walk away with the grandest cash prizes of the tournament.
Elevating Pinoy Cosplay on a Global Stage
According to the PGDX organizing committee, the new format aims to provide a sustainable platform that truly rewards the intense labor, dedication, and financial investment that goes into high-level cosplay.
“We designed this competition to truly celebrate and reward the hard work of our local cosplay community,” said the PGDX organizing committee. “By securing cash prizes for the top 10 online choices, we ensure their digital effort is recognized. Bringing them to the PGDX main stage then gives them the ultimate platform to showcase their craftsmanship and performance to international game developers and a massive audience.”
With PGDX 2026 officially included in the 2026 ASEAN Chairship Side Events Calendar, the convention provides local cosplayers with unprecedented professional visibility. International publishers, global indie studio developers, and foreign press will be in attendance, offering Pinoy cosplayers a direct spotlight to showcase the world-class craftsmanship that the Philippine creative community is known for.
Aside from the high-stakes cosplay tournament, the massive convention at the SMX Convention Center Manila in Pasay City is set to feature a diverse lineup of attractions including indie game stars, specialized business-to-business matching programs, and the interactive Tito Gaming Zone.
