As interest in historical re-enactment, live-action role-playing, and medieval fantasy surges across the country, pioneer organizer Ren Faire PH has issued a official trademark advisory to event planners and the local geek community, clarifying its legal rights under Philippine law and encouraging creative, distinct branding for emerging events.
Protecting the Ren Faire PH Brand
In a social media post titled “A Friendly Note from Ren Faire PH,” organizers explained that “Ren Faire PH” is a legally registered trademark in the Philippines. The group, widely credited with launching the country’s first formal Renaissance Faire gatherings, asked new and aspiring event organizers to refrain from using “Ren Faire” or confusingly similar variations in their titles.
“We’re thrilled to see more events celebrating history, fantasy, and medieval culture across the Philippines,” the organizers stated in their advisory. “To protect the identity we were building and provide a clear, recognizable name for our community, we registered Ren Faire PH as a trademark in the Philippines. Because of this, we kindly ask fellow organizers to refrain from using ‘Ren Faire’ or confusingly similar event names.”
Restricted Naming and Alternative Branding
The advisory specified that prohibited variations include location-based and phonetically similar names such as “Ren Faire Baguio,” “Ren Faire Manila,” “Renaissance Faire Bacolod,” and “Reign Faire,” along with other regional or thematic iterations.
Ren Faire PH emphasized that enforcing its trademark is essential to prevent consumer confusion regarding official merchant applications, ticket sales, sponsor partnerships, and brand affiliations. Rather than stifling community growth, the organizers urged upcoming event planners to develop distinct, creative identities inspired by medieval lore, regional myths, or fantasy themes.
Flagship Festival Set for Tagaytay
Alongside the legal advisory, Ren Faire PH officially confirmed the details for its next flagship gathering. The multi-weekend festival is scheduled to take place at Fernwood Gardens in Tagaytay on November 14–15 and November 21–22, 2026.
The upcoming festival promises an immersive medieval experience featuring live-action role-playing (LARP) quests, themed taverns, artisan craft workshops, interactive combat showcases, and live period performances.
The advisory marks a significant milestone in the maturity of the Philippine medieval and fantasy event landscape, establishing legal clarity while encouraging creative diversity as the niche subculture continues to expand nationwide.
