‘SAKAMOTO DAYS’ SEASON 2 SET FOR JANUARY 2027

The high-stakes world of assassination is officially back in business as TMS Entertainment and the Sakamoto Days production committee have greenlit Season 2 for a January 2027 premiere. The highly anticipated announcement, unveiled on June 23, 2026, alongside a brand-new teaser trailer and key visual, ensures that global fans will not have to wait long for the next explosive chapter of Taro Sakamoto’s action-packed retirement.

JCC Infiltration Arc Takes Center Stage

Season 2 is set to adapt the fan-favorite JCC (Japan Clear Creation Academy) Infiltration Arc from the original manga. The upcoming storyline sees Sakamoto and his trusted crew going undercover at Japan’s premier training institution for assassins. Their mission is to gather critical intelligence on the elusive villain known as “X” (Slur), who is currently spearheading a full-scale revolution against the Japanese Association of Assassins (JAA). The newly released teaser previews the series’ signature blend of lethal combat and absurdist comedy, providing a brief glimpse of Sakamoto’s hilarious disguise as a female student teacher.

Creative Team and Direction Update

The second season will usher in a major creative shakeup behind the scenes. Daisuke Nakajima, who previously served as an episode director and key animator, steps up as the new series director. Nakajima expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that he wants to fully capture the stylish action and unique philosophies of the many assassins created by original manga author Yuto Suzuki. Fans can also expect structural continuity as core staff members Taku Kishimoto and Yo Moriyama return to handle series composition and character design, respectively.

New Cast Members Join the Roster

To support the expanding narrative, three prominent voice actors have been added to the cast to breathe life into key JCC characters. Kikunosuke Toya joins the lineup as Amane Yotsumura, a top-tier student harboring a deep-seated vendetta against the Assassin Association. Misa Watanabe will portray Etsuko Satoda, the academy’s formidable and longest-serving instructor. Finally, Shinshu Fuji has been cast as Satoru Yotsumura, a cynical and mysterious founding member of the elite ORDER task force.

Streaming and Franchise Growth

Streaming giant Netflix continues to hold the exclusive international distribution rights for the series and will premiere Season 2 globally. The anime’s renewal follows a monumental, record-breaking year for the franchise, with Yuto Suzuki’s original manga officially surpassing 15 million copies in circulation worldwide.

While looking ahead to 2027, audiences can first look forward to Sakamoto Days Season 1, Part 2, which is scheduled to begin its weekly broadcast next month on July 14, 2026. Boasting stylish new arcs, fresh creative leadership, and a powerhouse cast, the hit franchise is poised to deliver even more high-octane thrills for Filipino and international viewers alike.
