SAYUMI SUZUSHIRO RETAINS LEAD ROLE AS KADOKAWA GREENLIGHTS ‘STUDIO CABANA’ ANIME FOR 2027

Publisher KADOKAWA has officially announced that Uma Agri’s hit music romance manga, Studio Cabana, will receive a television anime adaptation, with its broadcast premiere slated for 2027.

The major reveal was accompanied by the launch of an official website and social media channels, alongside a dramatic teaser visual featuring the main leads atop a school rooftop under the compelling tagline: “If that is not love, then tell me what it is.”

From Pixiv Hit to Anime: A Secret Musical Double Life
First serialized in June 2021 on Pixiv Comic under ASCII Media Works’ Pixiv Sylph imprint, Studio Cabana has built a dedicated global fanbase, particularly across social platforms like TikTok, thanks to its sensitive portrayal of high school romance and the transformative power of music.

The story centers on Yukari Maki, an earnest and straitlaced high school girl who prides herself on her honesty. Her quiet world is turned upside down after she follows her distant, withdrawn classmate, Yusuke Kusaka, to investigate a persistent rumor. Following him to an off-campus music venue named “Studio Cabana,” Yukari discovers his closely guarded secret: Yusuke is secretly the gifted lead vocalist of an indie band, revealing a passionately expressive side that shatters her initial perception of him.

Lead Cast and Interactive Fan Voting Campaign
Popular voice actress Sayumi Suzushiro, known for her roles in You and I Are Polar Opposites and Kaguya-sama: Love is War, will reprise her role as protagonist Yukari Maki, having previously voiced the character in a 2022 promotional manga video.

“I will carefully and wholeheartedly portray how the sincere and straightforward Yukari is emotionally shaken and gradually changed by her encounter with Kusaka,” shared Suzushiro in an official statement, expressing her deep commitment to honoring the character’s emotional journey.

In an innovative interactive twist, the anime’s production committee has launched a public audition and voting campaign to choose the singing voice for male lead Yusuke Kusaka. Performance videos from five selected candidates will be released between September and November, allowing fans worldwide to cast votes for their favorite performer via Google Forms in late November. The winning vocalist will be officially unveiled in January 2027.

Key Production Staff and Studio Details
Animation production will be handled by studio JUVENAGE, known for Kusunoki’s Garden of Gods. The project is helmed by director Shinichiro Ushijima, who previously directed I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and UniteUp!.

Series composition is being managed by Sawako Hirabayashi, known for her work on Delicious Party♡Precure and Wolf Girl & Black Prince, while character designs are crafted by Haruka Sagawa of Call of the Night and Re:ZERO fame. The entire project adapts the original manga created by Uma Agri.

Music-driven coming-of-age romances hold a special place in the hearts of Filipino anime enthusiasts, who have long embraced hit music titles like Given, NANA, and BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad. With Studio Cabana already gaining significant viral traction on TikTok among Pinoy manga readers, the 2027 television adaptation is poised to become a major favorite among local fans who appreciate deep emotional storytelling combined with genuine musical performance.

As production progresses toward its 2027 debut, additional casting announcements, promotional trailers, and original soundtrack previews are expected to be released across the show’s official platforms.
