Bandai Namco Filmworks and the official production staff for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) have announced a major expansion for the anime franchise in 2027, headlined by the third cour of Season 4 and a new television anime adaptation of the spinoff manga Clayman’s Revenge.
The mainline television anime will officially return with its third cour in July 2027. Season 4 is planned for a five-cour run, with its first two cours having aired back-to-back.
Animation studio 8-Bit remains in charge of production for the mainline series, with lead voice actress Miho Okasaki reprising her role as protagonist Rimuru Tempest.
Ahead of the mainline anime’s return, the franchise will launch a spinoff TV series, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Clayman’s Revenge, premiering in April 2027.
The adaptation is based on Wataru Kajika’s spinoff manga, which is drawn from an original concept by series author Fuse. The narrative focuses on Demon Lord Clayman following his defeat by Rimuru at the Walpurgis Festival. Given a second chance at life, Clayman is sent 70 years into the past, where he attempts to alter his fate and prevent his eventual downfall.
Veteran voice actor Takehito Koyasu will return to voice Clayman. Studio 8-Bit will animate the spinoff, directed by Kentaro Sugimoto (Blue Lock, Laid-Back Camp), with Yuji Haibara supervising series composition and Asumi Hashimoto alongside Hideki Sakai handling character designs.
