After decades of serving as the primary entryway for broadcasting personnel and visitors, the main entrance and exit gates of the iconic ABS-CBN Compound along Sgt. Esguerra Avenue are officially closing today, Sunday, August 16, according to internal sources.
Following the closure, vehicle access and news service vans will be permanently rerouted to the Mother Ignacia Avenue gate leading toward Center Road.
Sources clarified that operations inside the historic ABS-CBN building will continue without interruption. The facility remains the operational hub for flagship Kapamilya programs, including the live broadcasts of “It’s Showtime” and “TV Patrol.”
Additionally, the compound continues to house studio operations for the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) as well as the radio booth for DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, operated in partnership with the Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC).
First established in 1968, the landmark ABS-CBN building has served as the home for numerous groundbreaking television programs and has stood as a silent witness to major pivotal moments in Philippine history.
Throughout its decades-long footprint, the facility weathered the 1972 Martial Law declaration under former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.—which forcibly shuttered the network—the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, multiple coup attempts during the administration of former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, the global COVID-19 pandemic, and the network’s second broadcast shutdown in 2020.
