ABS-CBN’s long-running hit action-drama “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” has expanded its global footprint, launching its fourth book across 41 countries in Africa.
Distributed internationally under the title “Gangs of Manila,” the series is being broadcast via the StarTimes channel. To accommodate the diverse regional audience, the network is offering the show in three languages: English, Portuguese, and French.
The fourth book of the series centers on the climax of the main character Tanggol’s story, portraying his efforts to restore order to the city as its rightful mayor.
Played by Coco Martin, the character’s journey has already driven high digital engagement, with episode highlights generating significant traction on StarTimes’ Facebook and TikTok platforms.
The African expansion comes as “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” concludes its historic run as the Philippines’ most-watched primetime series from 2023 to 2026. The show dominated the inaugural Philippine Arts, Film, and Television Awards (PAFTA), securing major wins including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Martin, and Best Breakthrough Performance for Maris Racal.
Following the conclusion of the series, Martin is set to return to primetime television in the upcoming action-romance series “Coco Martin’s Sigabo,” alongside co-star Julia Montes.
With this latest syndication deal, ABS-CBN continues its international expansion. The media company has now sold over 50,000 hours of content to more than 50 countries worldwide across various streaming, digital, and broadcast platforms.
