LINO CAYETANO REPORTEDLY TAPPED AS NEXT PTV-4 GENERAL MANAGER

Acclaimed film and television director Lino Cayetano is slated to take over as the new general manager of the state-owned People’s Television Network (PTV-4), multiple reports indicate.

While Malacañang is anticipated to make the official announcement in the near future, formal confirmation from the Palace is still pending.

Upon official designation, Cayetano will succeed Acting General Manager Malou Choa-Fagar, who has held the interim leadership role at PTV-4 since August 2025. An official explanation for the sudden management shakeup has not been disclosed.

Choa-Fagar is a seasoned broadcasting executive known for her previous stint with Television and Production Exponents Inc. She helmed the company during a tumultuous period for its long-running noontime variety program, Eat Bulaga, which faced internal conflicts between its founding hosts and subsequent management.

Cayetano, an industry director and the co-founder of Rein Entertainment, also has a background in public service, having served as the mayor of Taguig City from 2019 to 2022. He recently mounted a congressional bid for the Taguig-Pateros 1st District seat in 2025 but conceded to Ricardo Cruz.

He belongs to an influential political dynasty and is the brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano. Despite their familial ties, the brothers have experienced highly publicized political rifts, with Lino previously going on record to demand his brother’s resignation from his leadership post.
