Celebrity couple Coco Martin and Julia Montes have opened up about balancing their personal bond with a professional partnership as co-producers of the highly anticipated action-drama series, Sigabo.
In a recent behind-the-scenes video released on the official YouTube channel of CCM Productions—Martin’s independent film outfit—the Kapamilya stars detailed the division of labor that keeps their collaborative efforts seamless.
Martin revealed that he intentionally brought Montes into the production leadership framework, recognizing that her strengths perfectly complement the areas he cannot manage alone.
“Talaga ininvolve ko siya. Sabi ko yung mga bagay na hindi ko na kayang gawin, mga hindi na kaya ng katawan ko–– like kumbaga sa mga finances. Basta pagdating sa creative, in all aspects, ako yan. Pero pagdating sa money matters, si Juls yan–– hindi ko na kaya yan,” Martin explained.
I really involved her. I told her that the things I can no longer do, what my body can no longer handle—like the finances. When it comes to the creative side, in all aspects, that’s me. But when it comes to money matters, that’s Juls—I can’t handle that anymore.
For Montes, the professional arrangement is a natural extension of their real-life dynamic. She emphasized that their working relationship relies on an intuitive understanding of each other’s strengths and limitations.
“Maganda sa amin tulungan talaga. Kung saan kailangan ng alalay ng isa, doon talaga sumusuporta yung bawat isa. So more than sa partner, talagang mas partner in life yung nangyayari sa amin,” Montes added.
What’s beautiful about us is the genuine teamwork. Wherever one needs backup, the other is truly there to support. So more than just [business] partners, what is happening to us is that we are really partners in life.
The real-life couple is no stranger to shared screens and sets. Their onscreen chemistry was previously forged in hit television series such as Walang Hanggan and Ikaw Lamang, as well as Montes’ memorable guest appearance during the concluding months of the long-running phenomenon FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
Sigabo marks a significant milestone as they transition into joint executive roles behind the camera. The upcoming Kapamilya primetime series is slated to premiere this June across multiple ABS-CBN platforms, including the Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWantTFC, A2Z, and ABS-CBN on ALLTV.
