TV5 officially ushered in a new era of Philippine television this week as it launched its highly anticipated “TodoMax Primetime” block.
The network’s back-to-back premiere of the romantic thriller A Secret in Prague and the inspirational family drama My Bespren Emman on April 27, sparked a massive wave of online engagement and solidified the Kapatid network’s position as a formidable contender in the evening ratings race.
A Cinematic Escape to the Czech Republic
Leading the charge is A Secret in Prague, which marks the high-profile return of Enrique Gil alongside Gen Z superstar Andrea Brillantes. The pilot episode delivered a visual feast, showcasing the cobblestone streets and gothic architecture of Prague.

The story follows Michael (Enrique), a Filipino migrant seeking a fresh start, whose life takes an unpredictable turn when he crosses paths with Kiara (Andrea), a woman with deep ties to a powerful and dangerous family.

Critics and viewers alike praised the “cinematic quality” of the production. As one viewer noted on social media:
“The chemistry between Enrique and Andrea is surprisingly electric, and the production value makes it feel more like a movie than a daily series.”
A Divine Surprise in ‘My Bespren Emman’
Following the high-stakes romance of Prague, TV5 shifted gears toward the soul-stirring My Bespren Emman. Starring JM de Guzman and Shaina Magdayao, the series explores themes of redemption and second chances. The pilot focused on Mateo (JM), a man haunted by a troubled past, and his dedicated partner Ruth (Shaina).

The biggest talking point of the evening, however, was the long-awaited reveal of the titular character “Emman.” After weeks of cryptic teasers, OPM legend Ely Buendia made his dramatic acting debut as the mysterious guide.

Director Derick Cabrido emphasized the show’s intent to provide hope, stating:

“There is an Emman for all of us. There is someone who will not leave or forsake us — someone who will put an arm on our shoulder, give us a sincere hug, pat our backs, and remind us that whatever our troubles may be, they shall pass, and we will never be alone.”
Performance and Reception
Both series trended nationwide on various social media platforms immediately following their broadcasts.

Fans have particularly lauded the network’s “diverse programming palette,” which balances the escapism of international location shoots with the grounded, spiritual depth of local storytelling.
A Secret in Prague and My Bespren Emman continue to air weeknights starting at 8:00 PM on TV5, with catch-up streaming available on Netflix and CignalPlay.
