Less than a month after returning to free television, youth-oriented debate program YSpeak 2.0 is reportedly bidding farewell to its ALLTV2 broadcast slot.
Viewers were caught off guard on Friday after ABS-CBN released a teaser announcing the return of its late-night movie block, Super Kapamilya Blockbusters, to the ALLTV2 lineup beginning Saturday, May 30. The development immediately sparked questions about the sudden disappearance of YSpeak 2.0 from the network’s schedule.
According to sources, the family of former Senate President and business tycoon Manny Villar allegedly took issue with the program’s most recent episode featuring investigative journalist Christian Esguerra.
During the discussion, Esguerra described several political figures, including Vice President Sara Duterte, as “evil” (“masama”) and questioned the legislative performance of Senators Robin Padilla and Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, as well as Representative Rodante Marcoleta. The personalities mentioned are widely regarded as political allies of the Villar family.
The episode has since been removed from the program’s social media platforms, prompting Esguerra to raise concerns on his podcast regarding ABS-CBN’s commitment to independent and fearless journalism.
Sources further claimed that the Villar family was uncomfortable with the show’s youth-focused advocacy and its efforts to encourage critical engagement among young Filipinos on governance and political reform—an approach some observers believe could challenge entrenched political dynasties.
As of writing, neither ABS-CBN Studios nor Caritas Philippines has issued an official statement regarding the matter.
Despite its removal from ALLTV2, YSpeak 2.0 remains available every Saturday at 10:45 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TFC, and iWant.
