The House Committee on Justice has issued a subpoena directing former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to testify in the ongoing impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Representative Leila de Lima formally moved for the issuance of a subpoena ad testificandum and duces tecum against Trillanes.
“I respectfully move for the issuance of a subpoena ad testificandum and duces tecum to former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, requiring him to appear at the next hearing on April 22, 2026, and produce documents relative to the alleged ill-gotten wealth and non-disclosure of assets in the SALNs of the Vice President,” De Lima said.
De Lima emphasized that Trillanes’ testimony would be “very relevant,” noting that he was specifically cited in the third impeachment complaint against Duterte and had previously testified before the House Quad Committee on matters related to the drug war.
The committee unanimously approved the motion.
In addition to Trillanes, the panel also issued a subpoena to the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), directing it to appear at the next hearing and submit documents on bank transactions involving Duterte and her husband, lawyer Mans Carpio, covering the period from 2006 to 2025.
The next hearing on the impeachment case against Vice President Duterte is scheduled for April 22 at 10 a.m.
