Grab Philippines has joined forces with two local transport operators in Iloilo to expand its electric vehicle (EV) ride-hailing offerings across Western Visayas.
Through the GrabTaxi Electric initiative, the superapp is collaborating with Quarry Taxi and MOMOFED Taxi to create earning opportunities for local drivers while increasing the fleet of eco-friendly taxis in the region.
“Electric mobility will succeed when it delivers real and lasting value to the communities that keep our cities moving. In Iloilo, Grab is working alongside local taxi operators and driver communities to expand economic opportunities, strengthen livelihoods, and give commuters cleaner and more reliable ways to travel,” said GrabCar General Manager Gines Barot.
“As fuel prices remain unpredictable, electrification also offers a more resilient path forward, helping taxi operators manage costs and drivers protect their earnings for the long term,” Barot added.
Quarry Taxi, managed by Feast Group Inc., holds the distinction of being the first EV taxi operator in Western Visayas and serves as one of Grab’s early fleet electrification partners in the area.
Similarly, MOMOFED Transport Group Corporation, operator of MOMOFED Taxi in Iloilo, serves as a pilot partner for the region’s green transport transition.
To support operations, drivers in Iloilo City can utilize the Evro app to locate and manage payments at ACMobility charging hubs located at Robinsons Iloilo, Seda Atria, and Richmonde Hotel Iloilo.
Additionally, GrabTaxi Electric and its fleet partners teamed up with major automakers—including Toyota, BYD, GAC, MG, and Geely—to source reliable vehicle models that satisfy Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Land Transportation Office (LTO) regulations. These automotive brands will supply local after-sales maintenance, spare parts, discounted purchase pricing, fleet warranties, and priority servicing.
The move aligns with national policy after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. advocated for public transport electrification during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), urging the sector to back government modernization programs.
Marcos subsequently issued Executive Order No. 121, establishing fiscal incentives for manufacturing hybrid and battery-electric vehicles alongside their components locally.
