QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Office of Civil Defense-6 (Western Visayas) has been awarded as the Best Performing Region in Disaster Management Operations during the 72nd OCD anniversary celebration held at Camp Aguinaldo on Tuesday, September 29.

Signed by OCD Administrator Undersecretary Harold Cabreros, the recognition commended the regional office for its “outstanding performance, exceptional dedication, and exemplary commitment to operational resilience” across all phases of disaster management, including pre-disaster, active response, and post-disaster operations.

“This recognition is for everyone who has worked with us in strengthening disaster risk reduction and management in Western Visayas,” said OCD-6 Regional Director Raul E. Fernandez.

The agency dedicated the distinction to its partner Disaster Risk Reduction and Management councils, local government units, emergency responders, and stakeholders across Iloilo City and the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo.

In addition to the regional agency award, OCD-6 Chief of Operations Melissa P. Banias was recognized as a model supervisor.

Banias, who also serves as officer-in-charge of the OCD-6 DRRM Division, received the individual honor for her effective “coordination of disaster preparedness and response activities” in collaboration with the Western Visayas DRRM Council.
