QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Several parts of the country experienced rainy conditions on Wednesday, October 14, as the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continued to affect multiple regions, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Based on its 4:00 PM weather bulletin, state meteorologists reported that the ITCZ would bring cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Visayas, Mindanao, the Bicol Region, Quezon, and Palawan.
PAGASA issued warnings to residents residing in these vulnerable areas regarding potential flash floods and landslides that may arise during periods of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, a northeasterly wind flow is currently prevailing over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora. However, the weather bureau assured the public that this system will bring no significant impact to the affected localities.
For Metro Manila and the remainder of Luzon, skies are expected to remain partly cloudy to cloudy, with isolated localized thunderstorms likely to develop later in the day.
In a separate weather update posted on social media, PAGASA disclosed that it is monitoring a tropical depression located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
The cyclone was spotted at 3:00 PM at approximately 2,175 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon. It packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 55 kilometers per hour, moving northwestward at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
