UNIVERSAL AND DREAMWORKS DROP FIRST ‘SHREK 5’ TEASER TRAILER

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation have released the first official teaser trailer for Shrek 5, signaling the return of the massively successful animated franchise.

The studio shared the announcement across social media platforms on Tuesday, stating:

“It’s happening… it’s really happening! Experience Shrek 5 only in cinemas summer 2027.”

The brief preview provides a first look at Shrek, Princess Fiona, and Donkey as they prepare for a brand-new journey. The upcoming film will place Shrek and Fiona’s children into more central roles, with the family swiftly landing in a new series of comedic mishaps.

The core franchise follows Shrek, a reclusive green ogre navigating a fractured fairy-tale world. Over the course of the films, he marries Princess Fiona of Far Far Away, accompanied by his talkative and loyal sidekick, Donkey.

Audiences can look forward to hearing the franchise’s iconic original voice cast once again. Mike Myers will return as Shrek, Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz returns to voice Princess Fiona.

Hollywood star Zendaya is also joining the ensemble cast. She will voice Felicia, Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, bringing a new dynamic to the next generation of the story.

The last main film in the franchise, Shrek Forever After, debuted back in 2010. That storyline followed Shrek as he struggled with the domestic routine of family life, leading him to make a dangerous deal with Rumpelstiltskin that altered his reality before he ultimately fixed his timeline.

Shrek 5 is slated to hit Philippine theaters in 2027.
