Southern Luzon commuters can now sail directly to the Visayas without navigating Metro Manila traffic, following 2GO Travel’s rollout of a new weekly ferry service connecting Batangas City and Cebu City.
Launching this July, the direct maritime link departs from the Batangas International Port every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and is scheduled to dock at the Port of Cebu by 1:00 p.m. the following day.
According to the shipping firm, this new route stands as the speediest sea connection between Southern Luzon and the bustling economic hub of Cebu. It is expected to significantly trim transit times for residents of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon (CALABARZON), who traditionally had to journey north to Manila’s ports to catch a vessel bound for the Visayas.
Deploying the MV 2GO Masikap for the route, the company aims to elevate the passenger experience with onboard amenities including regional dining spots, a cafe, a salon and spa, a souvenir gift shop, entertainment areas, and an operational medical station.
To accommodate entrepreneurs and heavy packers moving commodities between the two trading points, passengers will also enjoy a generous 50-kilogram baggage allowance.
“At 2GO, our customers remain at the center of every business decision we make,” said Francis Chua, business unit head of 2GO Travel.
“Our new direct Batangas–Cebu route gives travelers from Southern Luzon an easier gateway to Cebu while making sea travel more seamless and convenient,” he added.
The introduction of the Batangas-Cebu passage aligns with 2GO Travel’s ongoing strategy to broaden its domestic footprint and boost inter-island transport across the archipelago.
Bookings for the new route can be secured via the official 2GO Travel mobile app, their authorized ticketing centers, and corporate retail partners.
