AQUINO PUSHES FOR STRONGER SUPPORT TO ELEVATE CREATIVE INDUSTRY

Senator Bam Aquino on Friday championed the Philippine creative sector as a primary engine for job creation and economic resilience, calling for more robust government backing and long-term strategic investment.

In a formal statement, the senator emphasized that the nation’s creative industry is a premier asset that requires adequate funding and a structured development roadmap to reach its full potential.

“Iyong ating creative industry, isa yan sa mga strength natin na kailangan talagang bigyan ng tamang suporta, tamang pondo, at tamang plano,” the senator said.

He further noted that the industry should be treated as a fundamental pillar of the national economy.

“Maganda nga na gawing haligi ito ng ating ekonomiya at bigyan ng tamang suporta,” he added.

Aquino highlighted that providing resources for artists, filmmakers, writers, and digital creators would not only boost domestic employment but also secure the Philippines’ reputation for excellence in the global market. His advocacy comes at a time of significant international breakthroughs for Filipino talent.

The lawmaker specifically cited the historic achievement of the P-Pop group BINI, filing Senate Resolution No. 370 to honor them as the first Filipino act to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California.

During his sponsorship speech, Aquino praised the group’s April performances as a testament to the global caliber of local artistry.

“Sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon, isang Filipino group ang nagtanghal sa isa sa pinakamalaking music festivals sa buong mundo. Masasabi natin na ang tagumpay na ito ay isang Salamin ng galing at talento ng Pilipino sa pandaigdigang entablado,” Aquino said.

By diversifying economic drivers through the creative economy, the senator believes the Philippines can move beyond traditional industries and tap into the high-growth potential of the arts and digital media.
