BPI RESTORES ATMS AND DEBIT CARD SERVICES FOLLOWING NATIONWIDE SYSTEM GLITCH

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) announced late Friday night that it has partially resolved a major system glitch, restoring several vital electronic channels that had been knocked offline hours earlier.

In an advisory updated at 10:50 p.m. on Friday, the Ayala-led lender confirmed that its automated teller machines (ATMs), Cash Accept Machines (CAMs), and debit card transactions were fully operational once again.

The bank noted, however, that digital access to its mobile application and internet banking platforms remained down.

”Access to the BPI app and BPI online has yet to be restored,” the bank stated.

The widespread outage began early Friday evening, triggering an wave of complaints from inconvenienced account holders across the country. In an initial statement issued around 6:00 p.m., BPI acknowledged that its app, online portal, debit card processing, ATMs, and CAMs had all simultaneously become unavailable.

The financial institution did not disclose the root cause behind the technical disruption, but assured the public that its technical teams were actively addressing the system failure to bring all remaining digital features back online.
