PCEC URGES PASTORS: ‘DO NOT TURN THE PULPIT INTO A POLITICAL PLATFORM’

The Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) has cautioned church leaders against using the pulpit for partisan political activities amid the looming impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte and ongoing corruption controversies involving government officials.

In a statement, the evangelical group stressed that loyalty to political personalities or parties should never take precedence over faithfulness to God.

The council emphasized that churches must remain voices of truth and moral accountability rather than becoming platforms for partisan propaganda.

The PCEC also called for a broad “government cleansing” campaign to ensure that all individuals involved in corruption are held accountable and that allegedly stolen public funds are recovered.

According to the organization, corruption cases must be investigated fairly and impartially regardless of political affiliation, whether involving allies or opponents, past or present administrations.

The group warned that “selective justice” undermines genuine reform, insisting that efforts to cleanse the government should be comprehensive and free from political bias.

At the same time, the council encouraged churches nationwide to unite in prayer, fasting, and humility as part of what it described as a spiritual battle against corruption, which it said continues to erode institutions and weaken the moral foundations of society.
