Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano claimed on Sunday that Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson is targeting multiple lawmakers on behalf of the administration to secure backing for Charter change and the potential impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
During a social media livestream, Cayetano asserted that Lacson has been actively going after members of the upper chamber.
“Trabaho na daw niya po ngayon na habulin ang mga senador,” Cayetano said.
Cayetano stated that he appears to be the latest lawmaker on Lacson’s radar.
“Maybe one or two more, so pang six or seven … na ako sa mga tina-target ni Senator Lacson,” he added.
According to Cayetano, other lawmakers who have supposedly been pressured by Lacson include Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, as well as Senators Joel Villanueva, Jinggoy Estrada, Rodante Marcoleta, and Erwin Tulfo.
Referring to Tulfo, Cayetano said, “Ginawa niya ‘to kay Erwin Tulfo except that kumampi kaagad sa kanya.”
The minority leader further claimed that Lacson is not acting on his own accord but is operating under the orders of an unnamed administration figure.
“Ginagawa lang niya ‘yung sinasabi nung amo para ‘pag ginipit ako ang pagbibintangan siya, hindi ‘yung administrasyon,” he said.
Cayetano explained that the administration’s primary goals are to gather enough votes for Duterte’s upcoming impeachment trial and to push forward constitutional amendments.
Simultaneously, Cayetano defended himself against corruption allegations surrounding infrastructure developments in Taguig, his family’s political stronghold, maintaining that independent checks revealed no anomalies.
“Ma-assure ko rin po kayo na walang ghost projects sa Taguig to the best of our knowledge, ilan beses na nag-inspect,” Cayetano said.
He hinted that a broader conspiracy is driving the smear campaign against him.
“Ang nangyayari po ngayon ay may mga mastermind talaga at may mga minions,” he added, while noting that he was wearing a shirt featuring a character from the animated film Minions.
The exchange follows a fierce social media post from Lacson the previous day, where he accused Cayetano of corruption and suggested he belonged behind bars.
In a post on social media, Lacson said, “Unlike Sen Cayetano with ₱6.79B in budget insertions under the 2025 GAA, wala akong insertions a.k.a. pork barrel since I became a senator. At lalong wala akong 25% kickback sa mga slope protection and other infra projects.”
Lacson also floated the idea of a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee probe into Taguig’s flood control allocations—allegations that Cayetano firmly denied during his Sunday broadcast.
