CHAVIT SINGSON ARRESTED OVER CYBERCRIME CHARGE, POSTS BAIL

​Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson was taken into police custody on Thursday afternoon after authorities served an arrest warrant related to an alleged cybercrime offense.

​Personnel from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Police Station 12, led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Rosario Calusor, apprehended the 84-year-old former official at his residence in Barangay Ugong Norte, Quezon City, at around 1:00 p.m.

​The arrest stemmed from a warrant issued by the Vigan City Regional Trial Court, Branch 21, for an alleged violation of Republic Act 10175, otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

​Following his arrest, Singson was transported to the police station for standard booking procedures and documentation.

Reports indicate that the former governor has since been temporarily released after posting bail. Authorities have yet to provide specific details regarding the exact nature of the complaint.
