MANILA — Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro will stay in her post despite ongoing leadership transitions within the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
Acting Communications Secretary Lino Cayetano confirmed the development on Friday, October 23, expressing high regard for Castro’s steadfast approach when dealing with critics and the public.
“She’s a treasure,” Cayetano told reporters, praising her combative stance.
Cayetano emphasized that the primary goal of the communications team is to effectively disseminate details regarding government programs and policies so that the Filipino public can understand the administration’s initiatives.
“Ang importante lang sa akin, maibaba rin namin lahat ng importanteng impormasyon patungkol sa mga programa’t polisiya ng administrasyong ito para maramdaman ng sambayanang Pilipino at malaman [kung] bakit natin ginagawa ito,” he added.
Meanwhile, Cayetano noted that political and non-permanent appointees from the PCO’s previous administration have already submitted their courtesy resignations, giving the new leadership the prerogative to build its team.
Castro originally assumed her role as PCO undersecretary in February 2025 alongside former Communications Secretary Jay Ruiz.
