The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has concluded the primary dispatch of voting equipment and supplies to designated regional distribution centers ahead of the maiden Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections on September 14.
COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia confirmed the completion of the initial transport phase, stating that field officers will immediately begin routing supplies from regional hubs to two cities and 105 municipalities across the region.
The commission aims to complete municipal-level deliveries by September 8.
”Sa kasalukuyan, naka-deploy na ang mga kagamitan natin,” Garcia stated during a radio interview.
”Dapat bago sumapit ang September 8, dapat lahat ng 105 na munisipyo at dalawang siyudad sa Bangsamoro, dapat nasa kanila na ang mga kagamitan, lalo na ang mga balota,” Garcia added.
Following local distribution, election officers are scheduled to execute final testing and sealing of automated counting machines (ACMs) on September 12, two days prior to voting.
To enhance the voting process, the commission introduced updated election materials for the regional polls, transitioning to 160-grams-per-square-meter paper ballots—up from the 100-gsm paper utilized in the 2025 general elections—and adopting fast-drying, oil-based markers to streamline machine scanning and vote tallies.
