First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos announced that preparations are moving smoothly as the Philippines prepares to host fellow Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) first ladies for the Spouses’ Tour this November.
The National Organizing Council (NOC) and delegates from member states gathered on Wednesday, August 28, at Likha ng Filipino in Pasay City for a walkthrough and briefing regarding the event details.
Reflecting on the meeting, the First Lady shared her optimism online:
“Productive briefing with the NOC nd the other ASEAN country representatives during their walk through for the upcoming Spouses’ Tour at Likha ng Filipino,” she posted.
“Thrilled to hear their positive feedback on our detailed preparations — and even more excited to welcome our ASEAN First Ladies this November,” she added.
The upcoming itinerary will highlight Philippine heritage through traditional folk dance performances representing Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Guests will also explore a gallery exhibition highlighting local craftsmanship, featuring indigenous textiles, traditional arts, fashion pieces, handcrafted accessories, furniture, and seasonal decorations.
This initiative follows a previous cultural showcase organized by the First Lady during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu last May, reflecting the country’s host duties as this year’s ASEAN chair.
