GOV’T VOWS ALL EFFORTS TO BRING BACK ZALDY CO TO PH

The Philippine government is mobilizing all available resources to ensure the return of former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co, following his apprehension in Prague over travel document issues.

Executive Secretary Ralph Recto confirmed on Friday that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is leading the efforts to bring Co back to the country to face pending legal charges.

Speaking during an aid distribution event in Batangas City, Recto emphasized that the administration is committed to the process.

“Secretary Vida will be back in a few days. He will provide some clarification,” Recto stated. “It is best that he answers the question. Wala pa akong update tungkol diyan. But rest assured na gagawin ng ating pamahalaan ang lahat ng dapat magawa para maibalik si Zaldy Co.”

Co, who is currently tagged as a fugitive, is facing allegations involving irregularities in various flood control projects.

While initial reports suggested an arrest, the DOJ clarified that the situation in the Czech Republic currently centers on immigration violations. Authorities in Prague detained Co after he failed to present valid travel documentation.

Justice Secretary Frederick Vida and a specialized team have already flown to the Czech capital to coordinate directly with local officials.

The mission aims to streamline the legal requirements necessary for Co’s immediate repatriation to the Philippines.
