Heavy rainfall will continue across parts of Luzon and the Visayas as the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as habagat, dominates weather patterns, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Monsoon rains are forecasted for Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga. Intermittent rainfall is expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Norte, Occidental Mindoro, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and the remainder of the Cordillera Administrative Region.
Cloudy conditions alongside scattered rains and thunderstorms will affect Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, and other areas in Luzon. The rest of the Visayas can anticipate partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Mindanao will similarly experience localized thunderstorms bringing isolated downpours.
Weather forecasters are also tracking a Low Pressure Area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), spotted approximately 1,340 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon. PAGASA warned that the system carries a high probability of intensifying into a tropical depression within 24 hours.
Simultaneously, weather authorities are monitoring Tropical Depression “Saudel” (formerly “Obet”) outside the PAR. Located 1,105 kilometers west-northwest of Extreme Northern Luzon, the weather system is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h with gusts up to 75 km/h while tracking southwestward at a speed of 25 km/h.
