Widespread rainfall and intermittent downpours will persist across large portions of Luzon and the Visayas as the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, continues to dominate regional weather patterns, according to the state weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Heavy, intermittent precipitation is forecasted over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Rizal, Laguna, and Antique will see cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Authorities have issued warnings that sustained moderate to intense rainfall could trigger flash flooding and landslides in vulnerable areas.
In contrast, localized weather disturbances will bring partly cloudy conditions accompanied by isolated rainfall to Mindanao, as well as remaining sections of Luzon and the Visayas.
Offshore, Tropical Storm Krovanh—previously designated locally as Pilandok—was tracked 875 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon, tracking east-southeast at 10 km/h. The cyclone maintains maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near its center, with peak gusts reaching 80 km/h.
Marine conditions in extreme northern Luzon are expected to face moderate to strong southwest-to-west winds, generating moderate to rough seas between 1.5 and 3.4 meters. Light to moderate winds will prevail across the rest of Luzon and the country, producing slight to moderate wave heights.
