MANILA, Philippines — Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda will remain at the helm of the agency, Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday, October 7, dismissing persistent rumors regarding his supposed resignation.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro addressed the reports, stating that Malacañang has received no information suggesting Aguda is stepping down.
Castro cited Communications Secretary Dave Gomez in debunking the claims and shared an official statement from Aguda addressing the matter.
“I am aware of the reports circulating regarding my position as Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. At this time, I remain focused on carrying out my responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the Department’s work,” Aguda stated.
The ICT chief emphasized his dedication to his mandate and acknowledged the authority of the President regarding Cabinet positions.
“As Secretary of DICT, I serve at the pleasure of the President, and I fully recognize and respect the President’s prerogative in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration. My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability,” Aguda added.
Aguda assumed leadership of the DICT in March 2025, succeeding former Secretary Ivan Uy.
