Veteran news anchor Korina Sanchez-Roxas shared that while entering public office has crossed her mind for years, a potential bid for the Senate in the 2028 national elections remains uncertain.
Speaking to reporters during TV5’s midyear trade event, the seasoned journalist admitted that she had contemplated running for office multiple times in the past, though she consistently chose not to move forward with it.
“Actually, matagal na akong may plano dati-dati pa, napipigilan parati. Palagay ko mapipigilan na naman ako,” Sanchez remarked regarding persistent rumors about an elective run in 2028.
Sanchez, wife of former Senator Mar Roxas, mentioned that several individuals in her inner circle have been encouraging her to make the leap into governance.
“Lahat sila gusto akong [tumakbo]. Pero mahirap na, kailangan alamin muna natin yung…” she explained.
While keeping the specific factors behind her hesitation private, she emphasized that launching a political campaign involves far more than simply having a good intention to help.
She also lightheartedly downplayed expectations, dismissing the idea that she could act as a political “fairy godmother” who could instantly resolve issues once in office.
Her statements coincide with early discussions surrounding prospective candidates for the 2028 elections, though Sanchez confirmed she has not taken any concrete steps toward filing a candidacy for the Senate.
