VIBE PLUS kept its month-long anniversary celebration rolling with a high-energy OPM showcase during its August 8 episode.
The special broadcast kicked off with performances from the VIBE Jocks, GEN Vs, Star Worx talent, and Philippine hip-hop figures Abra, VXON’s Sam Cafranca, and Smugglaz. The group delivered a lineup of OPM classics and hip-hop hits, including “Otso, Otso,” “Nakakamiss,” “Walang Natira,” “Diwata,” and “Gayuma.”
During the show, Smugglaz dropped an impromptu verse summarizing the energetic atmosphere:
“VXON Sam, Abra, at Smugglaz kasabay ng bagyong malakas. Sobrang lakas parang pinasok na sa studio yung bagyo sa labas. Minsan lang ‘to, hindi madalas kaya salamat VIBE PLUS, nasa TV na ako sa wakas!”
Abra also expressed his gratitude to the fans watching in the studio and at home for their continued support of Filipino music.
The show featured a birthday segment for Star Worx Block One artist Marthena Jickain. Her mother, actress Aiko Melendez, sent a televised message expressing pride in her daughter’s career milestones with Star Worx. Jickain thanked her supporters before a showcase by fellow Star Worx artists took the stage.
Adding to the nostalgia, 1990s OPM band Rockstar 2 performed their hit tracks “Bakit” and “Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin,” while teasing an upcoming project with composer Vehnee Saturno. Later in the show, hip-hop veteran Andrew E. brought a crowd-pleasing set with classics “Andrew Ford Medina” and “Humanap Ka Ng Panget.”
Offering advice to emerging rap artists, Andrew E. shared:
“Only have to do is keep up and keep the fire burning. That’s only have to do because, first and fore most, you really have to show the world, that you believe in yourself and then when the world sees you, that you believe in yourself, then the world will follow, soon.”
Main Vibe Leaderboard Updates
Following two weeks of fan voting, VIBE PLUS revealed the top three tracks on the Main Vibe leaderboard:
- Top 1: Robledo Timido debuts at the top spot with “Gusto Ko Sakin Ka Lang.”
- Top 2: P-Pop group 1ST.ONE makes their debut in second place with “GIGIL.”
- Top 3: JAO makes a surprise return to the leaderboard at number three with “Ikaw Lang Po.”
Organizers announced that voting for the Main Vibe leaderboard has been extended for the coming weeks, with the final deadline to be announced soon.
The month-long anniversary special continues on August 15 and 22. Upcoming episodes will feature performances from Star Music artists DNA, Maymay Entrata, and Angeline Quinto. Viewers can watch VIBE daily on TV5, One PH, Kapatid Channel, and online streaming platforms.
