PAGASA: LPA TO BRING SCATTERED RAINS ACROSS VISAYAS, MINDANAO, MIMAROPA, AND BICOL

A low-pressure area (LPA) tracking westward is expected to bring cloudy skies accompanied by scattered rains and thunderstorms to the Visayas, Mindanao, Mimaropa, and the Bicol Region, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina stated that the disturbance maintains a low probability of intensifying into a tropical cyclone and may eventually dissipate as it approaches the Visayas region. As of the latest tracking, the LPA was located 320 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

“Unahin po natin itong low-pressure area na maliit pa rin ang posibilidad na maging bagyo,” Badrina said.

Badrina noted that the system is projected to move westward, traversing Eastern Visayas and other sections of the Visayas island group.

“Ito po ay maaaring kumilos pakanluran at posible nga po na dumaan dito sa may Eastern Visayas at sa bahagi nga po ng Kabisayaan,” he added. Mimaropa encompasses the provinces of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.

Meanwhile, a separate shear line is forecasted to generate cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon. Simultaneously, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” is influencing weather conditions across northern Luzon.

Other parts of Luzon can expect relatively warm conditions during the morning hours, followed by a high likelihood of localized rain showers and thunderstorms developing from afternoon into evening.

Additionally, PAGASA is monitoring Typhoon In-fa, which has weakened from its previous super typhoon classification.

Badrina noted that the cyclone has a minimal chance of entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as it is anticipated to shift northeastward over the coming days.

“Inaasahan nga po natin na sa mga susunod na araw ay kikilos na po ito pahilagang-silangan kaya po medyo maliit na ‘yung posibilidad na pumasok ng PAR,” Badrina concluded.
