Malacañang issued a cryptic response on Tuesday regarding renewed rumors of destabilization plots against President Bongbong Marcos, asserting that while no active coup is being monitored, the administration is well aware of the actors fueling the political unrest.
Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro played down the novelty of the rumors during an ambush interview, noting that such chatter often intensifies during periods of high political friction.
Pero even before naman, hindi lang naman ngayon yan.”
While the Palace declined to name specific individuals or organizations, Castro hinted that the motives behind the “noise” are transparent to the administration.
The remarks come at a volatile time for the administration, which is currently navigating a deepening rift with the Duterte camp, the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, and a Senate leadership shake-up that saw Duterte ally Alan Peter Cayetano take the helm.
Despite these flashpoints, Castro urged the public to remain discerning.
