President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio engaged in a phone dialogue on Monday to review regional matters, economic focuses, and bilateral trade between Manila and Washington.
Sharing the update online, Marcos characterized the interaction as highly successful, emphasizing that it revalidated the enduring partnership between the two nations.
“I had a productive phone call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio this morning, during which we discussed critical regional and economic priorities, and bilateral trade matters,” Marcos said.
The conversation aligns with ongoing commitments from both governments to enhance mutual ties across defense, security, trade, and broader strategic efforts in the region.
“Our exchange underscored our countries’ mutual commitment to strengthening the PH-U.S. alliance and addressing shared regional interests,” he added.
The security alliance between the Philippines and the United States remains firmly rooted in the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty.
Furthermore, the two sides continue to progress with joint economic ventures, prominently the Luzon Economic Corridor, which intends to integrate Subic Bay, Clark, Metro Manila, and Batangas into a premier logistics and investment hub.
Specific granular points of the call have not yet been made public.
