President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended his warm congratulations to United States President Donald Trump on Monday in celebration of his 80th birthday, emphasizing the robust alliance between the two nations and the American leader’s global impact.
In a statement published on his official social media platforms, President Marcos Jr. offered his best wishes on behalf of the Filipino people.
“Happy Birthday, President Trump. On behalf of the Filipino people, I wish you good health, happiness and continued success in the year ahead,” Marcos said.
The Philippine chief executive recognized the weight of the American president’s administration, stating that Trump’s leadership directly impacts both domestic directions and international discussions during a critical period in global affairs.
“Your leadership continues to shape the direction of the United States at a consequential moment in its history, while influencing developments and discussions on many of the most pressing issues facing the international community today,” he said.
Looking toward the future of the bilateral relationship, Marcos Jr. conveyed strong optimism that the strategic connection between Manila and Washington will remain a foundation of regional stability.
“May the enduring friendship between the Philippines and the United States continue to grow stronger in the years ahead,” he added.
The diplomatic greeting highlights the deeply integrated relationship between the treaty allies under the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty.
Security cooperation between the two capitals has intensified recently through expanded joint military exercises and the continued implementation of the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), which serves as a critical counterweight to geopolitical friction in the West Philippine Sea.
Beyond defensive pacts, the United States continues to be a cornerstone economic partner for the Philippines, with ongoing collaborations across the energy, education, trade, and investment sectors.
President Trump celebrated his milestone birthday at the White House, where festivities included hosting a unique UFC event on the South Lawn.
