PH VOLLEYBALL BODY ASSESSES IMPACT OF FIVB SUSPENSION

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is currently evaluating the consequences of its sudden suspension by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which pointed to governance issues and suspected breaches of the global body’s Code of Ethics.

In an official statement, the local sports association acknowledged getting the FIVB’s formal notice on May 29, 2026, and noted it is actively seeking counsel from legal experts and stakeholders to gauge the full scope of the ruling.

“The Federation acknowledges receipt of the FIVB communication dated 29 May 2026 and is carefully reviewing its implications with the appropriate advisers and stakeholders,” the PNVF said.

The local body emphasized that its main priority continues to be the well-being of Filipino athletes, safeguarding the nation’s presence in global competitions, and sustaining the sport’s development nationwide.

PNVF also shared its willingness to cooperate with domestic and international sports leaders to resolve the disputes and clarify the situation.

“The Federation respects the important roles of FIVB, PSC, POC, and all relevant institutions in Philippine and international sport, and is prepared to engage constructively through the proper channels,” it said.

The immediate suspension was enacted following approval from the FIVB Board of Administration due to what it labeled as severe internal governance flaws. The international federation added that the suspected ethical violations are currently being handled by its independent Ethics Panel, with investigations still underway.

Moving forward, the PNVF stated it aims to secure a full grasp of the ongoing proceedings and how this temporary ban will alter local volleyball initiatives and upcoming overseas stints, promising updates as more information surfaces.
