PNP DENIES RECEIVING FORMAL NOTICE OF ALLEGED ICC ARREST WARRANTS AGAINST BONG GO AND EX-POLICE CHIEFS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) clarified on Thursday that it has not received any official communication regarding the rumored issuance of International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrants against Senator Christopher “Bong” Go and two former high-ranking police officials.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that the law enforcement agency lacks any legal authority to act without formal directives or validated documentation from proper governing bodies.

“As of this time, the PNP has not received any official communication, documentation, or directive from any government agency regarding the alleged ICC warrants,” Nartatez said.

The PNP chief reiterated that the police organization operates strictly under verified information and established institutional guidelines.

“We rely on formal processes and verified information, not speculation or social media posts,” he said.

Nartatez added that the PNP will actively coordinate with relevant state bodies—including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and the Bureau of Immigration (BI)—should any official arrest orders be officially handed down.

“The PNP will perform its mandate in accordance with the Constitution, existing laws, and established procedures. We will neither preempt the process nor neglect our responsibilities,” he said.

The issue surfaced after Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte asserted that the international tribunal had already issued arrest orders for Go and two unnamed former police officials.

Go was previously named by ICC prosecutors as an alleged co-perpetrator in the international court’s ongoing investigation into the Duterte administration’s controversial anti-illegal drug campaign, which faces scrutiny for alleged crimes against humanity.

To date, the ICC has released no official confirmation or announcement verifying that any warrants have been issued against the senator or the former police officials.
