Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla has denied allegations that he attempted to prevent two senators and several resource persons from entering the Senate on Thursday, June 4.
The clarification came after Senator Pia Cayetano claimed that she and the invited resource persons for a hearing on flood control projects were blocked while heading to the session hall.
The issue gained attention online after videos circulated on social media showing Senator Robin Padilla appearing to push Remulla during the incident. Some pro-Duterte supporters later shared the clips and mocked the DILG chief over the encounter.
Remulla, however, maintained that he had no intention of obstructing Cayetano, Padilla, or the group accompanying them.
“I was walking out when I was pushed aside.”
According to the DILG Secretary, there was no effort on his part to block anyone since he was alone at the time of the incident.
“How can I do that? I was alone.”
Remulla made the statement when asked whether he had attempted to stop the senators and their resource persons from proceeding to the session hall.
