MANILA, Philippines — Retail electricity supplier Rockport Power Inc. is set to broaden its footprint across the country after securing a five-year license extension from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
According to the company, the renewed retail electricity supplier license permits operations to run through 2031, marking half a decade since its entry into the competitive retail power market. Rockport Power noted that the regulatory approval validates its steady adherence to compliance standards amid government initiatives promoting greater market competition.
The firm has already secured supply agreements with major utility providers, including the Manila Electric Co., Batangas I Electric Cooperative Inc., and Nueva Ecija II Electric Cooperative Inc. – Area 2.
Furthermore, it is closing in on a commercial partnership with the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, which will establish its inaugural operational footprint in Mindanao.
This nationwide push aligns with the ongoing implementation of the Retail Competition and Open Access framework alongside the Competitive Retail Electricity Market. These programs empower qualified large power consumers to bypass traditional franchised local distribution utilities and directly forge power purchase agreements with licensed suppliers.
Highlighting the company’s customer-centric mission, Rockport Power President Marvee Espejo emphasized their commitment to providing accessible utility solutions.
“We see our role not just as a supplier, but as a partner in helping Filipinos find real savings,” Espejo said.
“By working with local utilities, we are helping customers unlock more competitive and optimized energy solutions,” she added.
To address diverse commercial demands, the supplier is utilizing specialized regulatory frameworks like the Green Energy Option Program, permitting eligible end-users to source 100% of their power entirely from renewable energy sources.
It is also tapping into the Retail Aggregation Program, which allows smaller consumers within a contiguous zone to pool their collective demand to qualify for competitive market pricing.
At present, Rockport Power caters to a diverse client portfolio spanning manufacturing, commercial real estate, education, retail, food and beverage, wellness, and residential developments.
