The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is preparing an investigation into a government agency suspected of large-scale misuse of public funds, according to panel chair Senator Erwin Tulfo.
Speaking in a radio interview, Tulfo revealed that the committee is gathering evidence and coordinating with the Office of the Ombudsman before publicly naming the agency.
He noted that the target agency has consistently received substantial budget allocations for years while delivering little to no tangible results or promised services.
”Merong isang agency na medyo malaki-laki, malaking pondo ang binibigay na napansin namin na, pero lingid sa kaalaman ng mga kababayan natin malaking pondo na pala ang binibigay, pero wala pa rin ang nangyayari,” Tulfo stated.
Tulfo explained that the committee expects to secure records from the Ombudsman in the coming weeks and is reaching out to potential whistleblowers inside the agency.
Despite repeated promises of service delivery to far-flung communities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, the agency has allegedly failed to execute its mandate.
”Parang wala namang ginagawa talaga itong agency nito. Wala pang nagagawa. Puro pangako. Puro kwento. Wala naman nangyayari,” he said.
withholding the agency’s name until sufficient documentary proof and witness testimonies are consolidated, Tulfo asserted that the inquiry will focus on fund utilization and unfulfilled programs.
”Actually, tingin namin it’s a big-time corruption. Puro pangako. Wala naman nangyari,” Tulfo added.
